1) WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY W. FRANK BARTON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION-

Are you interested in pursuing a college degree in Business?  How does a one in sixty chance of receiving a $44,000 scholarship to attend the Barton School of Business at Wichita State University sound?  If you believe that you meet the qualifications listed below, we would like to encourage you to apply to participate in the following scholarship competition.  

To be eligible to complete, a student must be on track to graduate in May, have a minimum high school GPA of 3.50, have a minimum 24 composite ACT, be admitted to WSU no later than October 1st, declare a business major, and submit the Yes! I wish To Compete form by October 1st.

2) WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY LINWOOD SEXTON SCHOLARSHIP-

Wichita State University is seeking prospective student applications for the Linwood Sexton Scholarship. This is a full-ride scholarship geared toward minority students, majoring in Business or Education, who demonstrate financial need and have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and a minimum 21 ACT composite score.

3) KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY FIRST SCHOLARS PROGRAM-

First Scholars is a comprehensive program focusing on first-generation students. Selected students receive personalized support, development and leadership opportunities, and an annual award of $5,000, which is renewable for a total award of $20,000 over 4 years.

4) KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY ACACIA LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY-

This scholarship opportunity is for young men at your school who display motivation for personal success, an interest in studying the principles of leadership, and who plan to attend Kansas State University.  Acacia is awarding one leadership scholarship in the amount of $1000 and tow in the amount of $500 each to incoming male freshman at Kansas State University.  Scholarship winners will be selected on the basis of merit as displayed in their application as well as an interview. The scholarship committee will contact all applicants within two weeks after the deadline to schedule an interview with the applicant.

5) KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY URBAN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP-

The Urban Leadership Scholars Program seeks to shape the next generation of great American urban leaders. Urban Leadership Scholars will have the knowledge to make sound judgments, the character to flourish under the pressures of leadership, and the vision to bring new solutions to our nation’s most pressing urban needs. They will influence and inspire future generations to value education, hard work, and achieve academic and career success.

The Urban Leadership Scholars Program is not a typical scholarship competition. In addition to a monetary award, scholars will have access to academic and social experiences to encourage successful careers in law, public policy, education, journalism, business, and ministry. Scholars will be inspired to become exemplary citizens for life who will shape all aspects of American urban society.

Requirements:  Hold a strong high school GPA (3.5 minimum) along with a strong record of community service, be a high school senior, (Preference will be given to first-generation students from metro areas),  be a U.S. citizen, attend K-State in fall after senior year , minor in Leadership Studies.

Students who are selected for the scholarship will receive:   A $3,000 scholarship, renewable for up to four years with a K-State GPA of 3.0,  participation in a one-day Urban Leadership Seminar each summer,  possible internships, national and international travel, and special mentoring opportunities

6) KANSAS UNIVERSITY HIXSON OPPORTUNITY AWARD APPLICATION-

Eligibility: Students must have faced challenges of personal and/or financial hardship, students must be residents of Kansas and current high school seniors, students must be admissible to the University of Kansas, students must be entering freshmen for the upcoming fall term at KU, students must demonstrate financial eligibility as determined by the FAFSA, students whose parents/guardians did not earn a 4-year college degree will receive priority consideration.

7) KANSAS UNIVERSITY J.L. CLELAND GLBT NON-DISCRIMINATION AWARD-

The scholarship was established to help eliminate hatred, violence and bigotry against gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender persons. One recipient will be offered the $4,500 scholarship, which may be renewable for an additional 3 years.

8) COCA COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM-

Deadline: October                                        Amount:  $4,000 - $20,000

Seniors at secondary schools throughout the United States who meet the eligibility requirements may apply for one of 250 four-year merit-based scholarships.  High school seniors, who have not yet graduated, must submit initial applications between September and October 31of his/her senior year in high school. 

Recipients are well-rounded individuals with highly developed interests in their community.  Applicants are evaluated on the following:  Demonstrated leadership, committed to community, academic achievement, and employment.

9) ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION-

Scholarship, Leadership, and Financial Need 

Eligibility:  Any high school senior who is a US citizen is eligible to apply.  Male and female students compete separately for identical awards. 

The state of Kansas sends four applications to national judging.  These four students, two boys and two girls, are guaranteed a $4000 scholarship--$1000 per year for four years.  In addition to these four students, the state of Kansas awards 38 other students with a $600 one-time scholarship to use for their education.

11) KANSAS KIWANIS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP-

Kiwanis Clubs are service organizations, and therefore are interested in recognizing young people who are service oriented. The twenty plus scholarships awarded each year are evaluated on several factors, primarily SERVICE and ACADEMIC PREPARATION. Other factors taken into consideration are life goals, activities, need, recommendations and membership in service organizations.

12) BERNADINE SITTS SCHOLARSHIP-

The scholarship is open to any current senior who attended Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center for at least 2 full semesters and has at least a 3.5 grade point average.  The recipient must be planning to attend a four year college.

13) THE HELIUM LITIGATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND, INC-

Deadline:  February  

Be a resident of a qualifying county, SW KS, OK & TX panhandles (Finney is included)

Applicant will be engaged in agricultural, environmental or energy related studies at any accredited college or junior college, applicant will be incoming college freshman, applicant will satisfy other nondiscriminatory academic and economic criteria as requested, minimum ACT/SAT scores to be 23/1130 and minimum GPA of 3.5

14) KADPF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM-

Deadline:  February               Award:  $1000

The Kansas Association of Directors of Plant Facilities has established a scholarship fund in the name of Dave Williams and Dick Merriman.  These two individuals have been instrumental throughout the state of Kansas in bringing the custodial profession to a greater height of knowledge and professionalism.  The scholarship is available only to graduating seniors of custodial workers who wish to continue their education at the college level, student must be a resident of Kansas, graduate from a Kansas High School, and plan to attend a Kansas College.

Black Hills Energy is offering scholarships to high school students in the Kansas natural gas service areas. The Scholarships are for 1,000 each.

Eligibility:   Must be a customer of Black Hills Energy whether it is the parent or the student applying, and rank top 35% of graduating class. Must be majoring in: Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, Energy or related field of study, HVAC , Appliance Repair, Natural Gas, or Welding.

21) KANSAS GOLF FOUNDATION-

The KS Golf Foundation has just started the KS Jr Golf Scholarship that will award $1500 to each of five deserving young men or women.  This is an academic - not athletic scholarship program but in order to be eligible, a KS high school graduate must have participated in junior golf activities.  Qualifying junior golf activities are listed on application.

Eligibility requirements:    Applicant must be a high school senior in good standing enrolled in, or graduate of, a KS state high school. Applicant must be enrolling as a full-time student (12 hours minimum/semester) in an accredited KS four-year college or university for the coming fall semester. Applicant must have participated each of two golf seasons preceding the application in high school golf or junior golf programs sponsored by KS organizations.  These may include, but are not limited to:  KJGA,

KGA, KWGA, The First Tee, Wichita Junior Golf Foundation, Native American Junior Golf Association.  Participation, not playing ability or performance, is the criterion.

22) CHAPTER X P.E.O. EDUCATIONAL AWARD-

Deadline:  April                (FEMALE​ ONLY)                                                            

Eligibility requirements:  You must enroll in at least twelve (12) credit hours in a college of your choice, send Chapter X a letter stating you have enrolled & enclose a copy of schedule each semester ,you must maintain a 2.0 grade point average for the first semester or your scholarship status will be subject to committee review.

23) CHAPTER FF  P.E.O. SCHOLARSHIP-

Deadline:  April               (FEMALE ONLY)                          Award:  $500- 2 given     

This scholarship is awarded for one year only.

The Chapter FF...P.E.O. Scholarships are made possible through donations of the chapter's members, with requirements being set by the Scholarship Committee. 

Eligibility: Applicants may only be high school seniors that are women attending a college or university the fall after your senior year, activities in school and community are considered important,  include copies of the last seven semesters of High School,  be enrolled in 12 credit hours at the college or university of their choice.

Address to mail scholarship is on the application.

The applicants will be contacted after the scholarship due date if they were or were not selected for the scholarship.

After receiving notice of the scholarship, a thank you card should be sent to the Chapter, with the address to which the scholarship check should be sent.

24) THE GAS CAPITAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM-

Deadline:  February                             Awarded: Determined by Scholarship Committee

Eligibility: Applications will be solicited from High School Seniors and College Students who are residents of one of the counties in the Kansas portion of the Hugoton Gas Field area (Greeley, Hamilton, Kearney, Finney, Stanton, grant, Haskell, Morton, Stevens, and Seward. Scholastic achievement required (on a 4.0 scale- a 3.3 GPA or above for High School Students and a 2.5 average or above for College Students).

25) BEEF EMPIRE DAYS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP-

27) STEVE HARPER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP-

Deadline:  April              Award:  $1,000

One of the best-known Kansans of recent times, Steve Harper left his mark on Kansas with photographs and words.  During his 25-year career, he was a photojournalism instructor at Wichita State University, The Wichita Eagle's photography editor and eventually the newspaper's outdoor writer and photographer.

Sadly, Steve died of cancer on February 6, 2000, at the age of 55 in the same Newton house where he'd grown up and raised three daughters.  This scholarship was started at the suggestion of Governor Bill Graves, among others, as a way to honor Harper's dedication to Kansans and serving the Kansas outdoors.  As Steve would have wished, it's presented to Kansas youth pursuing natural resources or photography careers at Kansas colleges, with Kansas-based career goals.

Submit:  An Academic Letter or Recommendation for your school principal, counselor, or advisor, a Personal Letter of Recommendation from a responsible person in your community who knows you well and can attest to your personal qualities and abilities.  It SHOULD NOT be written by a family member or casual acquaintance, school transcript showing cumulative grade point average.

The Garden City Association of Educational Office Processional (GCAEOP) is awarding a scholarship, in the amount of $500.00, to a Garden City High School graduate who will attend a community college, vocational college, or a four-year university.  Applicants not associated to GCAEOP must have a major in the area of a business or education. The scholarship may be used for tuition or books only.  Awards will be made directly to the school of choice, on behalf of the student. Please submit a current copy of transcripts and one letter of recommendation for a complete application.

Must be a graduating senior from GCHS, must participate in football, volleyball, golf, wrestling, baseball, softball or bowling, must submit an essay about why the sport is important to you, must submit a letter of recommendation from your coach, and you must submit a self- portrait.

The County Weed Directors Association of Kansas (CWDAK) is a professional organization providing training and assistance for the 105 weed directors in Kansas. The CWDAK would like to help students preparing for careers in the agriculture/agronomy industry and increase awareness of the County Weed Department’s role in the local government.

The International Bullying Prevention Association will be awarding up to 2 scholarships in the amount of $500 to those who have seen the effects of bullying and want to help put a stop bullying altogether.

Eligibility: The scholarships are available to students who have shown dedication and passion for bullying prevention efforts in their school or community. Student must be a U.S. citizen.
